Using a Velodyne Lidar on a device connected to Husarnet network

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone has experience with my topic. I’m connecting a Velodyne Lidar to a machine running a Husarnet network. Before using Husarnet, I could call the ros2 Velodyne launch file and connect to my Lidar easily. I know this Lidar connects via an IPV4 address and I’m thinking that may be the issue. Is there a way to include the Lidar’s address in the Husarnet network? Thanks for the help!

Sincerely,
Cameron

Hello Cameron,

Husarnet should not interfere with standard IPv4 networking at all, i.e. connecting to lidar via it’s IPv4 address should work as before.

Can you confirm that the problem disappears as soon as you turn off Husarnet?

Regarding:

To make your lidar device “speak Husarnet”, you’d need to install Husarnet on the device. I have no experience with lidars but I assume they’re not running some Unix flavor, so only way to plug Husarnet in would be to modify the firmware; hence I think the answer is no.

Best regards,
Szymek from Husarnet team
